چکیده

Fractures of the neck of the femur account for less than 1% of all paediatric fractures. The complications after this injury are very frequent, the most significant being avascular necrosis. Slipped capital femoral epiphysis is a well-known disorder of the hip in children that is characterised by displacement of the capital femoral epiphysis from the metaphysic through the physis. In the vast majority of the cases, the aetiology is unknown, although, the condition may be associated with a known endocrine disorder, with renal osteodystrophy, or with previous radiation therapy. In the literature, delayed separation of the capital femoral epiphysis after a fracture of the femoral neck is very uncommon. We report one such case, which went on to heal with evidence of avascular necrosis.

Progressive slip after removal of screw fixation in slipped capital femoral epiphysis: two case reports

UNLABELLED INTRODUCTION In slipped capital femoral epiphysis the femoral neck displaces relative to the head due to weakening of the epiphysis. Early recognition and adequate surgical fixation is essential for a good functional outcome. The fixation should be secured until the closure of the epiphysis to prevent further slippage. A slipped capital femoral epiphysis should not be confused wit...

Suprasellar Germinoma Presenting with Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis: Case Report

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) is a fracture that results from displacement of the proximal femoral epiphysis from the femoral neck. SCFE can be caused by various endocrinopathies that lead to bone weakening in both adult and pediatric patients. We report a rare case of suprasellar germinoma presenting with SCFE in an 11-year-old female patient. The findings of this case further suppo...

Apophyseal avulsion fracture of the greater trochanter after slipped capital femoral epiphysis: a case report.

A 13-year-old boy sustained an avulsion fracture of the left greater trochanter eight months after surgical stabilisation of a slipped capital femoral epiphysis on the same side. In this specific case, avulsion of the greater trochanter after slipping of the capital femoral epiphysis may have been facilitated by weakening of the trochanteric physis.

Valgus Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis in Patient with Hypopituitarism

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) is a common disease of adolescent and the epiphysis is positioned more posteromedially in relation to the femoral neck shaft with varus SCFE; however, posterolateral displacement of the capital epiphysis, valgus SCFE, occurs less frequently. We report a case of valgus SCFE in a 17-year-old boy with hypopituitarism. After falling down, he experienced diff...

Subtrochanteric Femur Fracture after Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis Pinning: A Novel Treatment

Slipped capital femoral epiphysis is a common injury suffered by adolescents worldwide. Treatment of most slips can be accomplished by percutaneous screw fixation, as this is an accepted and proven method associated with minimal morbidity. Complications, although limited, can be problematic for both the patient and treating physician. These include avascular necrosis, chondrolysis, infection, a...
